Indrica Roman Catholic church, Wooden church building in Kalnieši Parish, Latvia

Indrica Roman Catholic church is a wooden building with a bell tower and four altars decorated with detailed carvings. The interior contains old religious paintings and an organ with intricate woodwork, reflecting the craftsmanship of earlier periods.

The church was built between 1655 and 1658 during a period when the region was under Protestant control. After renovations in 1698, it returned to the Catholic congregation and has served that community ever since.

The interior features four altars decorated with detailed woodcarvings that show how local craftsmen expressed their religious faith and technical skill. These carved details continue to shape how the space looks and feels when visitors walk through it.

The building is actively used for religious services, so visitors may encounter worship activities depending on when they arrive. Those visiting should be mindful of the sacred nature of the space and conduct themselves respectfully.

This building is considered the oldest wooden church in the Latgale region and received official recognition as a National architectural monument of Latvia. This designation protects the structure and highlights its importance to the country's heritage.
