Valdeķi Manor, Manor house in Kandava parish, Latvia
Valdeķi Manor is a two-story building erected in 1882 featuring a symmetrical facade with white walls and large windows. The structure stands on grounds that include a park with ponds, bridges, and pavilions.
A baron established this manor in 1845 by combining several peasant houses from an adjacent estate as a gift for his wife. Baroque stairs were added to the building during the 1930s.
The manor displays photographs by Jura Benjamiņš, an artist who later worked in Canada and pioneered new approaches to his craft. His images show people and places through a lens that was uncommon for his time.
Visitors should arrange visits in advance to ensure the manor is open and ready for guests. Contact is best made several days ahead to confirm timing and availability.
The property features a series of ponds arranged in cascades and connected by bridges and small pavilions. This water landscape was designed with considerable effort and represents a rare example of such detailed park design in the region.
