Stone Bridge, Steel bridge in Riga, Latvia.
Stone Bridge is a steel crossing over the Daugava River in Riga that connects different parts of the city. It spans more than 500 meters long and features walkways on both sides for people on foot.
The bridge was built in 1955 and was originally called October Bridge after the month of its completion. It received its current name in 1992 when Latvia regained independence from Soviet rule.
The bridge reflects the architectural preferences of the 1950s, incorporating steel construction methods while maintaining symmetrical design principles of that period.
The crossing is used by trams and vehicles while safely guiding pedestrians across the river. You can walk onto the bridge anytime and observe the river and city from the spacious walkways on each side.
The structure includes 3.5-meter-wide walkways on both sides, allowing pedestrians to observe the river and city landscapes during their crossing.
