Țipova Monastery, Orthodox cave monastery near Țipova village, Moldova
The monastery complex consists of three sections carved into limestone cliffs along the Nistru River, containing 18 interconnected chambers and multiple churches.
Monks established this religious site before the formation of the Moldovan feudal state, with the first carved cells dating back to the 10th century.
Religious ceremonies resumed in 1994 after the Soviet period, making the monastery an active center for Orthodox Christian worship and pilgrimage.
Located 100 kilometers north of Chisinau, the monastery welcomes visitors daily to explore its cave churches, ancient living quarters, and surrounding nature reserve.
Archaeological excavations in 1990 revealed a human skeleton from the late 15th century within the rock-carved monastery chambers.
