Kano

Kano is a major city in northern Nigeria that stretches along the Jakara River and is enclosed by historic walls. The city walls run for about 19 kilometers (12 miles) and reach heights of up to 15 meters (50 feet).

A blacksmith from the Gaya tribe founded the settlement about a thousand years ago after discovering iron deposits at Dalla Hill. Over the centuries, the place developed into an important trading center for the region.

Kurmi Market forms the center of daily trade, where sellers offer fabrics, leather goods, spices, and produce from the region. Visitors experience how local traditions shape the rhythm of business life there.
