Bichi Emirate, Traditional palace in Bichi Local Government Area, Nigeria.
The Bichi Emirate palace is the administrative headquarters of a traditional ruler in northern Nigeria. The building sits along the A9 highway in Kano State and functions as the official center for overseeing nine local government areas in the region.
The Emirate was established in 2019 when Kano State government divided the traditional Kano kingdom into five separate administrative regions. This structure lasted briefly before the region returned to a single unified emirate leadership in 2024.
The palace represents the center of traditional authority where the Emir manages local affairs and maintains connections with the Danejawa clan of the Fulani tribe.
The palace is accessible from the A9 highway and can be visited by those interested in seeing traditional rulership structures in Nigeria. It is wise to check for current visiting conditions beforehand, as the administrative structure has recently undergone changes.
In May 2024, the palace faced administrative changes when Kano State abolished the separate emirates, reverting to a single unified Kano Emirate structure.
