Gobarau Minaret

The Gobarau Minaret is a tower made of baked clay and mud that rises above the surroundings in Katsina. The structure displays traditional building methods and originally functioned as a tower attached to a mosque.

The minaret was built between 1445 and 1495 under the rule of Sarkin Katsina Muhammadu Korau, who established the first Muslim dynasty in the city. This structure marks a significant turning point in the region's history.
