Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Sports stadium in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
The Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is a football and athletics venue in Port Harcourt, in Rivers State in southern Nigeria. It has a central pitch, a running track around it, and seating for around 38,000 spectators.
The stadium opened on July 19, 2015, with an international football qualifier as its first major event. It went on to host top-level national competitions and was later renovated in 2020 to meet international standards.
The stadium is named after Adokiye Amiesimaka, a Nigerian footballer who played for the national team in the 1970s and is one of the most recognized sports figures from Rivers State. On match days, fans from Port Harcourt and the wider region fill the stands, showing how central football is to life here.
The stadium sits along main roads in Port Harcourt and is easy to reach by car or local minibus. On match days, arriving early is a good idea since the area around the venue fills up quickly.
Although the stadium only opened in 2015, it hosted a FIFA World Cup qualifier within weeks of its opening. This made it one of the few venues in Nigeria to reach that level of competition so soon after opening.
