Beuningen, Municipality in Gelderland, Netherlands
Beuningen is a municipality in Gelderland comprising four towns: Beuningen, Ewijk, Winssen, and Weurt, situated along agricultural land, woodland, and waterways. The area sits on the right bank of the Rhine River and borders the city of Nijmegen.
The region was settled during Roman times, as revealed by archaeological finds in the area. Medieval structures like Blanckenburgh castle once stood here before vanishing from the landscape.
The municipality maintains several historical structures, including the De Haag windmill from 1704 and the Cornelius church built between 1900 and 1901.
The municipality is easily reached via the A73 and A50 highways, offering convenient road access. Bus services connect the towns with Nijmegen and surrounding areas.
The Groene Heuvels lake in Ewijk, part of Beuningen municipality, serves as the location for the annual Down The Rabbit Hole music festival since 2014.
