Circuit Zandvoort, Motorsport racing track in Zandvoort, Netherlands.
Circuit Zandvoort is a motorsport racing track in Zandvoort, Netherlands, extending over 4259 meters and containing several technically demanding corners. The layout winds through coastal dunes, linking fast sections with tight turns.
The facility opened in 1948 on former military roads laid during the Second World War. Over the following decades it was rebuilt several times and has drawn international races since the late 1940s.
The name Zandvoort literally means sand ford, pointing to the sandy dune landscapes that surround the entire site. Race visitors today still see how the track fits into this natural setting, with grandstands lining the curves.
Visitors reach the track by train directly from Amsterdam or use special parking areas available during larger events. Those arriving early usually find better viewing spots along the course.
The track uses the natural dune relief and therefore shows elevation changes rare in flat coastal regions. Some sections run between sand ridges that influence both sight lines and wind.
