Veluwezoom National Park

Veluwezoom National Park is a protected nature area in Gelderland featuring mixed forests, open heathlands, and shifting sand dunes across a large landscape. The terrain varies in elevation and supports different plant communities adapted to sandy, acidic soils typical of this region.

Created in 1930, this was the Netherlands' first national park and marked the start of organized nature conservation efforts in the country. This pioneering designation showed that protecting certain landscapes had become an important goal for Dutch society.
