H'Art Museum, Art museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands
H'ART Museum sits in the classical Amstelhof building on the banks of the Amstel and offers exhibition spaces across three different sections. Each section shows changing art collections, with rooms marked by tall windows and historic ceilings.
The building was completed in 1681 as a retirement home and served that purpose for more than three centuries. After a major renovation it opened as a museum in 2009.
The name reflects the building's former use as a retirement home and today connects art with the historic character of the site. Visitors experience exhibitions in rooms that still show the classical architecture of the 17th century, creating a dialogue between old structure and contemporary presentation.
The museum opens daily and sits close to the water, so the visit combines well with a walk along the Amstel. Admission is charged separately for each of the three sections.
After separating from the Hermitage Museum in 2022, the institution changed its name and began building partnerships with museums in Paris, London and Washington. This reorientation allowed it to show works from different collections and broaden the program.
