Musée Louwman, Car museum in The Hague, Netherlands
The Louwman Museum presents 275 historic automobiles, coaches, and motorcycles across three floors with 10,000 square meters (107,600 square feet) of exhibition space in The Hague. The vehicles range from early steam cars to modern sports cars and show the development of personal mobility over more than a century.
Importer Pieter Louwman purchased a Dodge in 1934 and founded what became the world's oldest private automobile collection. The family expanded the collection over generations until it opened to the public in a dedicated museum building in 2010.
The collection features paintings and drawings by Frederick Gordon Crosby that show motor racing scenes and automobile design. These artworks sit alongside the vehicles and connect artistic vision with mechanical craftsmanship.
The location near the A44 motorway makes it easy to reach by car, and parking is available on site. Museum cards are accepted, giving many visitors free entry.
The collection includes Winston Churchill's car, the Aston Martin DB5 from the James Bond film Goldfinger, and a Cadillac owned by Elvis Presley. These vehicles connect automotive history with famous figures of the 20th century.
