Rotterdamsch Lyceum, Secondary school building in Rotterdam, Netherlands
The rectangular three-story building features red brick facades, a slate parapet roof, and an entrance decorated with a masonry rounded arch.
The firm De Roos & Overeijnder constructed this school between 1927 and 1929, marking the first lyceum structure in Rotterdam for secondary education.
Writer Menno ter Braak taught Dutch language and history at this institution from 1929 to 1933, later incorporating his experiences in his novel.
The building underwent expansions in 1939 and 1975, adding new classrooms above the main entrance and at the corner of Kapelstraat.
The interior maintains original features including hallways with light brown glazed bricks, black marble details, and stained-glass ceiling panels.
