Sint-Petrus' Bandenkerk

Sint-Petrus' Bandenkerk is a Gothic church in Venray featuring a distinctive 79-meter tower with two distinct sections. Architect Jules Kayser designed the building and completed it in 1962, replacing the older medieval structure that once stood there.

The original church at this site was founded in 1450, but the building suffered severe damage during World War II. Reconstruction and restoration began in 1947, leading to the modern structure visible today.

The church holds 90 statues from different periods, including medieval apostle figures shown as travelers carrying books. These sculptures tell stories of journeys through their details and show artistic changes across centuries.

The church is centrally located in Venray at Grote Markt 24 and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should note that opening hours vary, so it is advisable to check ahead or look for notices at the entrance.

From the bell tower, observant visitors can spot the buildings De Admirant and Porthos in distant Eindhoven on clear days. This unexpected view offers an interesting perspective across the landscape far beyond Venray.
