Kasteel Maarsbergen

Kasteel Maarsbergen is a mansion situated at the base of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, comprising more than 400 hectares of forests, natural areas, and agricultural land. The building and its surrounding grounds form a large residential complex with formal gardens and extensive countryside.

The estate developed with formal gardens in the 17th century as a structured agricultural property. Later, the property came into the possession of the Godin de Beaufort family, whose stewardship has shaped its development to the present day.

The estate reflects the tastes and lifestyle of the Godin de Beaufort family, whose presence shaped how the grounds and buildings have been maintained and used over generations. Walking through the property reveals how a landowning family lived and organized their world across this broad landscape.

The location at Maarnsegrindweg 30 provides easy access, with guided tours available to explore the building and surrounding grounds. The expansive grounds require time to fully explore, and visitors should plan accordingly for their visit.

The carriage house holds the only complete collection of 19th-century coaches in the Netherlands, with original equipment and fittings intact. This same structure later stored racing cars belonging to Carel Godin de Beaufort, an early Dutch Formula One driver.
