Zandbergen, Huis ter Heide

Zandbergen is a rural estate with Dutch Baroque architecture located in Huis ter Heide, spread across multiple structures. The main villa features original wood paneling, grand fireplaces, and eleven bedrooms, while the separate carriage house contains two large rooms with sleeping lofts for group accommodation.

The estate originated in 1652 when J. Schade van Westrum acquired parcels for heathland development. This period coincided with the construction of the Nieuwe Amersfoortsche Straatwegh, which laid the foundation for the area's expansion.

The property serves today as a gathering place for weddings and events, maintaining its historical role as a meeting space for social occasions. Visitors experience the villa as a living venue where regional hospitality traditions continue to be practiced.

The estate is located just minutes from the highway, making it easily accessible by car. The rooms feature modern technical equipment while maintaining the original architectural character throughout.

The carriage house stands positioned at the forest edge and was originally designed as a separate dwelling for staff and guests. This building today offers an alternative to the main villa and shows how servant quarters were arranged in the 17th century.
