Wijndragerstoren, Zwolle, Medieval tower in Zwolle, Netherlands
The semi-circular Wijndragerstoren extends from the ancient city wall, featuring a pointed arch frieze and sandstone blocks with shooting holes.
Built between 1475 and 1500, the tower integrated into Zwolle's defense system with modifications during the Eighty Years' War for cannon resistance.
The name derives from the wine carriers' guild, whose members operated the city crane and maintained their headquarters in this tower.
Located on Krabbestraat 63, the tower stands near the eastern side of Vispoort along the water, operating now as a hospitality establishment.
The structure received a lower tiled roof instead of its original pointed design due to changes in siege warfare techniques.
