Old cemetery, Roermond

The Old Cemetery of Roermond is a burial ground with hundreds of stone graves and family plots spanning different architectural styles. The site features distinct sections, including a military graves area and a bishop's burial chapel, documenting various periods and traditions.

Two graves feature sculpted stone hands reaching across a wall between them, marking where a Protestant colonel and his Catholic wife rest together. This rare depiction was an unusual symbol of love transcending religious boundaries during their lifetime.
