Memorial cemetery Loenen, War cemetery in Loenen, Netherlands
The National War Cemetery spans 17 hectares of forested land and contains flat stone markers for over 3,900 individuals who died in military conflicts.
The Dutch government established this cemetery in 1947 to repatriate remains of citizens who perished abroad during World War II and subsequent conflicts.
The central chapel displays commemorative books, a wooden triptych listing Engelandvaarders names, and urns containing soil from concentration camps.
