Openluchttheater Valkenburg

Openluchttheater Valkenburg is an open-air theatre in Valkenburg aan de Geul that sits within natural stone quarry walls with wooden seating arranged in an outdoor setting. The venue nestles at the base of Cauberg hill and uses the surrounding rock formations as its backdrop.

Architect Pierre Cuypers designed this open-air performance space in 1916 as the first outdoor theatre in the Netherlands. The venue has operated within the existing quarry structures since its founding.
