Kasteel Oldenaller

Kasteel Oldenaller is a brick castle with a square floor plan in Putten, featuring four symmetrical facades and a central tower. Surrounding the structure are landscaped gardens with a kitchen garden and orchard, while two 17th-century houses stand at the forecourt.

The castle was built in 1655 under Johan van Wijnbergen's direction, replacing an earlier structure owned by the Van Aller family since the Middle Ages. The gardens were later redesigned in the mid-19th century under new ownership.

The rooms display architectural styles from different periods, including a Louis XV fireplace and decorated stucco ceilings with fine detailing. Walking through the interior, you notice how craftsmanship from different eras has left its mark on the same spaces.

The grounds are easily reached via Oldenallerallee 3 and offer visitors clear views of the exterior and gardens from the pathways. Plan time to walk through the garden areas to appreciate the full setting of the property.

A major restoration in 1975 removed white plaster and 19th-century decorations, exposing multiple construction phases from the building. This work revealed how building techniques changed and evolved across three centuries of Dutch craftsmanship.
