Kralingse Bos, Urban forest in Kralingen-Crooswijk, Netherlands.
Kralingse Bos is an urban forest in northeast Rotterdam covering about 250 hectares with wooded areas and the Kralingse Plas lake together. The space combines different landscape types and water features that form a natural retreat within the city's boundaries.
Stones in the park come from Delftse Poort, a former city gate destroyed during World War II. These rocks were brought here after the war and built into the grounds.
Two traditional mills, De Ster and De Lelie, still operate near the lake and show visitors the region's craft heritage through their daily work. These active mills shape the landscape with their distinctive buildings and remind people of the area's connection to milling traditions.
The park has designated paths for different activities like running, cycling, horse riding, and skating that run through the grounds. Visitors find facilities and clear routes throughout to pursue their preferred activity.
A traditional pull ferry system with ropes transports visitors to De Kraal petting zoo on the other side. This unusual way to cross is a charming feature not found in most other parks.
