Luchtwachttoren 7O1, Military observation tower in Warfhuizen, Netherlands.
The concrete tower rises 15.44 meters above ground level, featuring a 3-by-3-meter observation platform with a shelter on its northwestern side.
Constructed in 1955 as part of the Dutch defense network, Luchtwachttoren 7O1 served until 1968 to monitor low-flying aircraft during the Cold War period.
Local volunteers from the Korps Luchtwachtdienst used specialized instruments and binoculars to identify aircraft types and communicate findings to the Groningen command center.
Visitors can access the tower every third Sunday from May through October, with guided tours conducted by knowledgeable volunteer supervisors.
The structure, designed by architect Marten Zwaagstra, employs the raatbouw system with prefabricated concrete elements supplied by N.V. Schokbeton.
