Sportpark De Heikant, équipe de football néerlandaise
Sportpark De Heikant is a sports facility in Berg en Dal designed primarily for football, with multiple playing fields, a clubhouse, and changing rooms for players. The grounds are surrounded by trees and open land, with covered and open seating areas that accommodate spectators during matches.
The sports ground was founded in 1929 when Achilles '29 played their first home match against the German team TuS '07, marking the official start of the facility. The ground served the club and community for decades until 2019, when significant changes occurred that altered its role in the local area.
The stands at the park carry names tied to its origins: one references the early history when chickens were raised on the land by Gerrit Derks, a key supporter of the club in its early days. The other stand is named after Jan Klösters, a longtime club member and leader who remained devoted to the organization.
The park is surrounded by trees and open land, creating a relaxed setting for visitors to explore and enjoy the grounds at their own pace. Multiple entrances provide access to different areas of the facility, and there is ample space to move around without feeling crowded.
In 2012, the facility hosted an international youth match between the Dutch under-18 team and the United States, a rare occurrence for a local sports ground. Despite the loss for the home side, this event marked a special moment in the ground's history and highlighted its importance within the region's football landscape.
