Flevopark, Public park in Amsterdam-Oost, Netherlands.
Flevopark is a public park in Amsterdam-Oost with large lawns, wooded sections, and pathways that run alongside the Nieuwe Diep waterway. The space contains tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, barbecue areas, and a youth recreation center spread across different zones.
The park was developed between 1928 and 1931 and incorporated sections of the former Jewish Cemetery Zeeburg into its design. Much of that cemetery was relocated to Diemen in 1956 to make way for the new recreation area.
A working distillery with tasting rooms sits along the Nieuwe Diep waterway, keeping alive the neighborhood's long history of spirit production. Visitors can experience this traditional craft where it has been practiced for generations.
The grounds are quite spacious, so it helps to explore different sections or settle in the area that fits your interests best. Many pathways cross through the park and make it easy to navigate, especially if you use the Diep waterway as an orientation point.
The park functions as a natural corridor and supports diverse wildlife including martens, foxes, hedgehogs, and various bird species within urban Amsterdam. This green connection allows many animals to move and survive throughout the city.
