The museum operates in two locations: a neoclassical courthouse in Zwolle and Kasteel Het Nijenhuis near Heino, displaying visual arts from different periods.
Originally established in 1958 at Kasteel Het Nijenhuis, the museum relocated to the Paleis aan de Blijmarkt in Zwolle during 2005, undergoing major renovations in 2012.
The collection contains over 7,000 artworks, including paintings from Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian, and Vincent van Gogh, representing various artistic movements through centuries.
Museum de Fundatie welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 11:00 and 17:00, with adult admission at 9 euros and free entry for children under 17.
The Zwolle building features an oval-shaped rooftop extension covered in 55,000 ceramic tiles, adding 1,000 square meters of exhibition space.
