Al Hijra moskee, Islamic mosque near historic center of Leiden, Netherlands.
The Al Hijra mosque spans 2500 square meters with a postmodern design featuring a square minaret and large windows that illuminate the prayer hall.
The current building replaced the former mosque on Rembrandtstraat, which operated from 1982 to 2018 in a structure previously used as an Apostolic Society church.
Artist Mustapha Boumaiz incorporated Moroccan wood carving techniques throughout the prayer hall, creating symmetrical patterns on the walls and prayer wall.
The mosque offers guided visits every last Sunday of the month from 9:00 to 12:00, with parking facilities and storage areas for shoes.
The Al Hijra mosque participates in the Greatest Museum of the Netherlands project, making religious heritage sites accessible to the public.
