Kerk van Noordbroek

Kerk van Noordbroek is a church building from the 14th century with a separate bell tower topped by a gabled roof. The structure preserves its late Romanesque and Gothic architectural style from when it was originally built.

The building was constructed in the 14th century with walls that have survived to the present day. In the 20th century, medieval paintings were discovered under whitewash layers and carefully restored.

Inside you can see medieval paintings depicting biblical scenes that were hidden under layers of whitewash for centuries. These artworks reveal how the space was decorated and used for worship in past times.

The building is a protected monument and is not always open to visitors, so it is worth checking visiting times ahead. Photography inside may be limited, so it is best to ask on arrival.

Inside the church stands an organ built in 1696 by the renowned organ maker Arp Schnitger. This instrument is still played today at concerts and services, making it a working example of skilled craftsmanship.
