Vakantiehuis De Vonk

Vakantiehuis De Vonk is a protected vacation home in Noordwijkerhout featuring a symmetrical facade with red brick walls, high corner sections, and geometric divisions made from contrasting materials. The three-story structure now operates as a children's health center and is located at Westeinde 94.

The structure was designed in 1918 by architect Jacobus Oud and opened in February 1919 as a holiday facility for working-class factory girls. The building later served different community purposes before its conversion to its present use.

The building displays early functional design through geometric brick mosaics and stained glass windows created by different artists. These design choices shaped how the structure looks and reflect how architects incorporated modern ideas into residential spaces.

The building is easy to locate since it sits on Westeinde street and is clearly visible from the road. Since it currently operates as a health center, visitors should plan ahead and check hours in advance.

The central hall contains marble staircases illuminated by five stained glass windows depicting zodiac signs and childhood scenes by artist Harm Kamerlingh Onnes. These windows give the interior a special artistic quality that stands out immediately upon entering.
