The museum building contains original hiding spaces in the attic where eight people sought refuge during the German occupation of the Netherlands.
During World War II, the house functioned simultaneously as a German command post in the front room while concealing refugees in its upper levels.
The museum presents personal narratives from local residents who made difficult choices between helping others and ensuring their own survival during wartime.
Located at Markt 14 in Aalten, the museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Sundays from 13:00 to 17:00.
The cellar beneath the building served as a neighborhood shelter during air raids, while the German commander worked directly above without discovering the hidden refugees.
