Nationaal Onderduikmuseum

The Nationaal Onderduikmuseum is a museum in Aalten dedicated to the stories of people in hiding and seeking refuge. The building preserves original hiding spaces in the attic where several people found shelter during the occupation.

During World War II, a German officer used the front rooms as a command post while hidden people lived above. This unusual situation showed how closely enemies and refugees shared the same building.
