Huize Babberich, Historical mansion in Babberich, Netherlands.
The main building and annexes of Huize Babberich form a U-shaped structure with a central risalit and pediment on the southern facade.
First documented in 1363 as Kasteel Babberich, the current mansion was constructed in 1786 by Johan Philip Anton de Nerée using materials from its medieval predecessor.
The interior features Louis XVI style elements, including a grand staircase and fireplace mantle that represent late 18th-century Dutch architectural preferences.
The estate grounds contain a preserved stone dovecote from 1850 and connect to an English landscape park that surrounds the main building.
The mansion earned the nickname Halsaf from a legend about a maid who defended the house by decapitating intruders through a basement window.
