Duno is an estate in Renkum, close to the Nederrijn river, made up of forests, meadows, and natural streams. The land sits on a moraine ridge, which gives it a varied terrain with both wet and dry areas at different elevations.
The manor house was built in the late 1700s on the request of estate owner Charlotte Sophie. The architect A.F.O. Blombe Vatebender designed the building, which gave the property the shape it has today.
The Azalea lane on the estate is a narrow path lined with flowering shrubs that draw attention in spring. This style of planting follows an old Dutch garden tradition that is still visible as you walk through the grounds today.
Several walking trails start near Castle Doorwerth and lead through the estate, with routes suited to visitors of different fitness levels. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, as some parts of the terrain can be wet or uneven depending on the season.
