Denekamp, farm village in the Netherlands
Denekamp is a village in the Dinkelland municipality in the Dutch province of Overijssel. At its center stands the Sint Nicolaas Church, built from Bentheim sandstone, which has shaped the layout of the village for centuries.
The village was first recorded in the 10th century under the name Daginghem and grew slowly around the church built in 1275. In 2001, it joined with neighboring communities to form the new Dinkelland municipality.
Denekamp has a notable hardstyle music scene, and several well-known DJs come from the area. At local festivals, visitors can experience this side of the village firsthand and see how it brings the community together.
The village is easy to explore on foot or by bike, as the streets are flat and easy to follow. The surrounding area has well-marked cycling routes that pass through the typical landscape of the region.
In the nearby hamlet of Breklenkamp, there is an old bakehouse with a tree growing directly through its roof. The structure is easy to spot on a short walk and stands as an unexpected reminder of how nature takes over abandoned buildings.
