Meerssen railway station

Meerssen railway station lies along the Maastricht-Aachen railway line and shows traditional Dutch railway architecture with detailed brickwork and characteristic design elements. The building features a main platform with waiting areas and is equipped with modern facilities such as bicycle storage.

The station opened on October 23, 1853 and received an expansion in 1900 that resulted in the current building. This renovation made it a national monument and shaped its present-day appearance.

The building shows architectural styles typical of railway stations from the late 19th century in this region, using local materials and construction techniques from Limburg. The stonework and details reflect the preferences that were common at the time when building transportation hubs in the southern Netherlands.

The station is equipped with a bicycle parking area and parking spaces, making arrival convenient. Regular trains run between Maastricht and Heerlen, operated by the Arriva transport company.
