OT301, Alternative cultural center in Amsterdam, Netherlands
OT301 is a self-managed cultural center in Amsterdam spread across multiple floors, hosting concerts, film screenings, art exhibitions, workshops, and a vegan restaurant called De Peper. The space provides working areas for artists, studios, a gallery, and a print workshop where different creative activities happen.
The building was originally a Dutch film academy that was transformed into a creative space in 1999 when artists occupied it and established their community. This action marked the beginning of what would become an ongoing self-managed arts center.
The center houses a print workshop, artist studios, and the 4Bid Gallery, where exhibitions from local and international creators are regularly displayed. Visitors can explore the creative work happening inside and see how the space functions as a living hub for makers.
The center is open on various days depending on the event schedule, and opening hours change based on what is happening. Check ahead to see which concerts, film screenings, or workshops are scheduled before you visit.
The center received the Amsterdam Prize for the Arts in 2007 for its contributions to the city's art scene. This recognition highlighted its importance as a cultural institution despite its origins outside traditional systems.
