Doornburgh

Doornburgh is an estate featuring a 17th-century villa, outbuildings, and gardens along the Vecht river, complemented by a modern priory from the 1960s. The complex comprises several structures that together form a cohesive architectural whole.

A merchant named Jan Claesz Vlooswijck purchased the land in 1623, establishing the foundation for the estate. In the 20th century, the priory was built anew and the grounds later transformed into a cultural space with artistic use.

The name Doornburgh reflects its origins as a refuge, and today exhibitions and events shape how visitors experience the place. The historical spaces host contemporary art presentations that blend with the old architecture.
