Anna's Hoeve, Nature and recreation area in Hilversum, Netherlands
Anna's Hoeve is a nature and recreation area in Hilversum featuring walking trails, mountain biking routes, and a soccer field within protected green spaces. The site spans roughly 13 hectares with multiple entry points and residential homes integrated thoughtfully into the landscape.
The area was created through the conversion of a former wastewater treatment facility into a residential neighborhood starting around 2015 following the Hilversum Structure Plan. This transformation demonstrates how abandoned industrial land was reclaimed to become a lived community space integrated with nature.
The name recalls a former farm that once occupied this site, reflecting the intention to preserve rural heritage within a modern residential setting. Visitors experience a blend of open grasslands and built spaces where residents naturally gather along pathways and communal areas.
Free parking and multiple entry points provide easy access to all parts of the grounds for different types of visitors. Cafes and shops are within walking distance, allowing visitors to plan their time flexibly.
The area is part of the Groene Schakel project, which links local green spaces with regional landscapes, connecting the Gooi surroundings to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. This connection allows visitors to access extended nature routes that stretch far beyond the site itself.
