Saint Rosa Chapel stands as a stone structure with Baroque architectural elements, displaying craftsmanship from the late seventeenth century construction period.
The chapel emerged in 1675 after Sittard residents made a commitment to build it following their survival of a severe dysentery epidemic in 1668.
The chapel maintains its function as a central point for the annual Saint Rosa procession, held on the last Sunday of August through Sittard streets.
Visitors can access the chapel interior every Sunday from Mid-Lent until All Saints Day, thanks to the supervision of the Church Watch Guild.
The structure received official recognition as a Rijksmonument on July 19, 1967, marking its status as a protected national monument of the Netherlands.
