Du Moulinkazerne

Du Moulinkazerne is a military base and protected monument in Soest with a distinctive U-shaped design. The main gatehouse holds various facilities including dining areas, a gymnasium, officers' quarters, and a medical clinic.

The complex was built between 1938 and 1939 following changes to the draft system that required new barracks facilities across the country. Engineer J.C. Stumphius oversaw the project with contributions from modernized design approaches.

The barracks are named after a military officer with strong ties to the Dutch armed forces during the 18th century. This naming reflects the building's role as part of the nation's defense infrastructure.

Access is restricted and visitors must register at the main entrance near Zeisterspoor. It is best to check ahead about current entry rules since this remains an active military installation.

A military engineer named A.G. Boost shaped the design of this barracks with an unconventional approach that set it apart from other contemporary structures. This innovative style represented an early example of modern military architecture in the Netherlands.
