Kontakt der Kontinenten, Conference center and hotel in Soesterberg, Netherlands
Kontakt der Kontinenten is a conference center and hotel in Soesterberg with a distinctive T-shaped design, three stories and an attic following the Delftse School principles. The facility provides 130 hotel rooms, 25 meeting spaces, three conference halls, and a restaurant serving international food.
The building was constructed in 1925 as Missiehuis Sint-Jan to train young men for missionary work, a role that ended in 1960. After a fire in 1968, it was rebuilt and gradually transformed into the conference center it is today.
The site brings together two religious buildings: the former Mission House Sint Jan and the Monastery Cenakel, which reflect Dutch spiritual architecture. Visitors can still sense this religious past in the layout and character of the spaces.
The location sits in a quiet area outside the village center and is easily reached by car or public transportation. Visitors should allow plenty of time to explore the various areas, since the grounds are spacious and contain multiple separate rooms.
The property combines a former monastery and a mission seminary, which originally served completely different purposes. This unusual pairing of two religious institutions under one roof represents a rare combination in Dutch architectural history.
