Gebouw Industria

Gebouw Industria is a multi-story building with a rectangular footprint and hipped roof, constructed from natural stone and light-colored brick. The ground floor holds retail spaces and the club entrance, while upper levels contain dining rooms, meeting spaces, and the Michelin-starred restaurant Bougainville.

This building was completed in 1916, replacing the old Beurspoortje on a site with medieval roots. Beneath the location once sat a lock system that controlled water flow between the Amstel and IJ rivers.

This spot served as a gathering place where Dutch business leaders and merchants met regularly throughout the twentieth century. The building still functions as a social and dining venue where people from the business world come together.

The building is located on Dam Square and is easily accessible on foot, with retail entrances on the ground floor and restaurant access clearly marked. Visitors should know that upper levels are primarily reserved for restaurant use, so it helps to check access arrangements beforehand.

During foundation work in 1913, construction crews discovered remains of the original Amsterdam dam structure. This finding revealed the archaeological layers of a city built on managing water flow.
