Kasteel Hemmen

Kasteel Hemmen is a historical garden complex in Hemmen with carefully maintained flower beds, walking paths, and green spaces surrounding the remains of the original castle structure. The estate originated in 1361 when knight Borre van Doornick received it as a fief from the Holy Roman Empire. Over centuries, the structure evolved into the garden landscape visible today with remnants of its earlier fortification.

Archaeological finds from the Late Iron Age and Roman period have been discovered here, including a bronze winged axe and Terra sigillata pottery. These artifacts show that the land was inhabited long before the estate was founded.
