Huis Bollenburg

Huis Bollenburg is a medieval residential house in Amersfoort with a distinctive white facade, high gable roof, and small upper-floor windows. Located on Muurhuizen street, it retains original architectural features dating back to the 15th century.

The building was constructed around 1400 and served as the childhood home of the later prominent Johan van Oldenbarnevelt. It was subsequently converted into a flax and spinning house before receiving national monument protection.

The house can be viewed from the outside and is centrally located in Amersfoort, easily accessible on foot. As a protected monument, visitors can appreciate the facade and external details.

During restoration work, nine children's shoes from the 17th century were discovered bricked into the walls, including examples resembling modern wooden clogs. This unusual practice may have been a protection ritual or a form of building dedication.
