Description
Fort bij Marken-Binnen is a concrete defensive structure that forms part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam and sits within a polder landscape. The installation was originally designed to accommodate around 300 soldiers and controlled access via the Markervaart waterway.

The fort was built between 1899 and 1905 as part of a comprehensive defensive system around Amsterdam. It incorporated a specialized dike in the Starnmeer polder that could serve as a water barrier during flooding operations.

The name refers to its location within the Marken area, where it was built as a protective structure integrated into the landscape. Visitors can observe the sturdy construction typical of Dutch defensive works from the early 20th century.
