Ridderhofstad Holy, Medieval knight's court in Vlaardingen, Netherlands
The Ridderhofstad Holy consists of a stone residential tower built on elevated ground, surrounded by a circular moat in the Holiërhoekse polder.
The earliest documentation of the estate dates to 1343, when Allert Aagte Muyssoon inherited the property, leading his descendants to adopt the name Muys van Holy.
The estate represents the Dutch nobility's architectural preferences, featuring a multi-level tower structure that served as both residence and symbol of status.
The entrance gate, marked with 'HO' and 'LY' inscriptions from 1735, stands at the site and provides access to a garden near the former hospital location.
The name Holy derives from 'Hoge lede', indicating its position near a drainage canal, and its coat of arms displays seven red merlettes on a silver background.
