Animal Farm is a small-scale facility with various species including crocodiles, ostriches, and porcupines located on an island within Willem-Alexanderplantsoen park. The collection balances exotic animals alongside domestic species in a confined setting.
The facility started as a children's farm before becoming a licensed Dutch zoo. This evolution allowed it to expand its collection to include exotic animals.
Volunteers care for the animals and create opportunities for visitors to interact directly with residents. This hands-on approach shapes how people experience the place.
The site is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and weekends from 12:00 to 17:00 with no admission charge. Free parking is available in the nearby residential area.
This is the only free zoo in the Netherlands, making animal encounters accessible to everyone. This distinction makes it a rare offering in the region.
