Moco Museum, Art museum at Museumplein, Netherlands
The Moco Museum occupies Villa Alsberg, a townhouse built in 1904 at Museumplein between the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. The rooms spread across several floors and display paintings, sculptures and installations in a mix of classic architecture and modern exhibition design.
Eduard Cuypers designed the building in 1904 as a private home for a wealthy family who lived there until 1939. Decades later, the villa was restored and reopened as an exhibition space for contemporary art.
The collection brings together street art and contemporary works that comment on everyday life and society. Visitors find pieces by artists such as Banksy and Keith Haring displayed inside rooms that once served as private living spaces.
The museum opens daily and stays accessible until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The address is Honthorststraat 20 and sits within walking distance of other major museums around the square.
The villa was originally designed by a nephew of Pierre Cuypers, the architect who also created Amsterdam Central Station. Today, temporary installations transform the former living rooms into interactive art zones that one would normally expect in street settings.
