Cinema Pathé

Cinema Pathé is a movie theater with eight screening rooms in a modern building in Maastricht's Sphinxkwartier neighborhood. The rooms are arranged on the ground floor level, with two larger auditoriums each seating around 167 viewers, while the remaining spaces offer different capacities.

The building was constructed in the 1990s and connects to three older structures from the former Sphinx ceramics factory, which were built between 1928 and 1941. This integration of industrial heritage has shaped the architecture and character of the site.

The cinema serves as a meeting place in Maastricht where people gather to watch current films and attend opera broadcasts and cultural talks. Visitors experience here a lively center for entertainment and cultural events that shape the city's social life.

The exterior is clad in black brick and glass, creating a strong contrast with the terracotta-colored factory buildings beside it. This deliberate design contrast allows the new building to stand as its own structure while respecting the historical heritage around it.
