Cedar

Cedar is a modern office building in Amsterdam Southeast with two five-story structures connected by a glass pedestrian bridge. The exterior features curved facades and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood all office spaces with light.

The building opened in 2020 as the new headquarters of a major bank and replaced an earlier structure that was demolished two years before. The new construction marked the start of modernizing the office complex at this location.

The building shows a modern take on office design with open areas that encourage collaboration and transparency in daily work. Visitors immediately notice how the large glass surfaces and connected spaces create a feeling of openness.

The building is best explored from street level since most interior areas are not open to the public. The curved form and large windows offer good views to appreciate the architecture from outside.

A bicycle path runs directly through the interior of the building and connects it with the surrounding neighborhood. This unusual feature shows how the design deliberately dissolved the boundary between the building and the city.
